Sulmara Launches New Route Development Business Line

International subsea specialist Sulmara has announced the launch of a new business line called Route Development. The expansion aims to reduce risks in subsea operations and assist clients in achieving their net-zero targets. The new suite of services will provide support from the planning and design stage to the operational phase of subsea cables and pipelines. Sulmara’s expertise in desktop and feasibility studies, seabed mapping, and route optimization will be utilized to benefit clients. The company also plans to expand into new areas of the industry by offering services such as UXO identification and removal, boulder relocation, and route clearance.

To enhance the Route Development offering, Sulmara has appointed Perry Balls as Business Development Director and Alison Lucas Collier as Commercial Director. The company believes that their extensive experience will contribute to the mission of a sustainable energy future.

Sulmara’s CEO, Kevin McBarron, expressed confidence in the new business line, stating that it will provide a full-service approach for clients’ subsea projects. The company aims to offer in-house services that are managed, processed, and reported internally, providing clients with greater confidence in the results and simplifying the contract issuance process.

The Route Development business line will complement Sulmara’s existing offerings in uncrewed and remote technology, site characterization, and offshore support services. The company’s recent commitment to the renewable energy industry includes a three-year deal with Atlantic Offshore to charter the multi-purpose support vessel Ocean Marlin. The vessel will undergo a substantial refit, including the installation of survey equipment and a subsea crane.

Alison Lucas Collier highlighted the significance of the investment in Ocean Marlin and the new business line, emphasizing that Sulmara is the only UK-headquartered organization offering this full range of services in-house. The company aims to reduce project risk for clients and promote environmentally friendly operations.

Sulmara, established in 2019, has rapidly grown to become an international services provider with offices across the Americas, Europe, and Asia. The company employs over 190 people worldwide.
